2293 Squadron is one of many ATC squadrons across the country. Cadets at 2293 enjoy a wide variety of activities both on and off the squadron, including flying, gliding, shooting, fieldcraft, leadership training, drill, first aid, navigation
exercises, radio communications, a variety of sports and adventurous training activities, to name a few. Travelling further
afield, cadets have the opportunities to go on camps for a week or more, with adventures such as rock climbing and kayaking in Jersey, skiing in the alps or long distance walking in Holland available. Cadets also have the opportunity to attend week long camps on RAF stations, in order to give them a chance to see how the RAF operates from day to day. |

As cadets progress through their ATC career, they have the opportunity to apply for a promotion to become a non-commissioned officer (NCO) and be put in charge of the less senior cadets, and as an NCO progresses into the more senior ranks, they will find themselves teaching the younger cadets and helping with the running of the squadron. Other
opportunities are also available to more senior cadets, such as the chance to become a glider pilot/instructor - some cadets can legally fly an aircraft before they can drive! Or how about the opportunity to go to a far away country and become an ambassador for the corps? Or the chance to go on a fieldcraft leadership course, leading a patrol on an exercise, operating with real helicopters? The sky really is the limit, but remember - the more you put in, the more you'll get out! |
